Orchha is one of city the few places in india that combines natural beauty,the aesathetic lwgecy of history and a certain authenticity.Orchha is in transition from village to town and   athe Ram temple where one can see how vibrant Hinduism remains today.


The ancient town seems frozen in time,with its maney monuments continuing to retain their original grandeur even to this day.Here,the river Betwa splites into seven channels,also called the Satdhara. Legend goes that this is in honorur of the seven erstwhile chiefs of Orchha.


The orgin of the Bundela dynasty in the 11th century is to a Rajput prince who offered himself as a secrifice to the mountain goddess Vrindavasini:she stoped him and named him ' 

Raja rudra pratap threw a wall around the existing settlement and began work on the palace buiilding(1525-32)and an arched bridge to it.

Raja Ram Mahal 
Raja ram Mahal :- There is a fascinating table behind the history of the Ram Raja Templ.This temple was at one point of time,a palace of the then ruler Madhukasr Shah.Legend says that ones loard Rama into the palace before installing it inside the temple.But for some reason the idol could not nbe moved from its orignal place in the palace.The ruler then remenbered the bit of his dream where it was said that the idol would stay at the place it would be kept initially.It was then that the king turned the palace into a temple.



Chatur Bhuj temple 

interesting legend that imposes the faith of people.it is said that Maharani Ganesh Kunwar,wife of Ruler of Orachha,raja madhukar built the temple for Lord Rama.She wanted to relocate the idol of Rama that was placed in Rani Niwas,her privet apartment to temple.But the idol refused to move.Thus,the king instead of Loard rama,the idol of Lord Vishnu,with four arms in the temple.That is how the name Chaturbhuj temple was attainsd.

Khajuraho Temple are among the most beautiful medieval monument in the coutcry.These Temple were built by the chandella rulers between AD900&1130. it was the golden period of chandela rulers.it his lifetime.so all Khajuraho Temple are not constructed by single chandela in his lifetime.So all Khajuraho Temple are not constructed by any single chandela ruler but Temple building was a tradition of chandela rulers and followed by almost all rulers of Chandellad dynasty. Khajurah is believed to be the religious capital of Chandellas.
the first recorted mention of the Khajurraho Temple is in the accounts of Abu Rihan AL Biruni in AD 1022 and the Arab travelers IBM Battuuta in AD 1335. tradition lists 85 Temple in khajurah out of which only 25 temples are serviving
after various stages of presevasion and care.All these temples are scattered over an area of about 9 square miles. About 13th century to 18th ,Khajuraho temple remain in forest cover, away from popularity till it was re-dis covered by British engineer T.S.Burt.

on the main road , beside the path leading to Matangeshvar Temple is the A A.S.I counter where you must purchase a ticket to visit the western group of Temple in this complex and the museum on the opposite side.

Devi Mandap, Varaha Mandap, Lakshman Temple, Kandariya Maha Dev Temple Shrine, Devi Jagadambi Temple.




Eastern Group of temples:- A Kilometres to words the east from the western group of Temple is the Khajur sagar and the old village of khajuraho. On one of the pathscindia to the villages is a modern whitewashed structure with a large orange -red statue within Khajuraho. The immage is of human,the oldest images to be found in khajuraho.The image is of human, the monkey king who assited Ram (of the Ramayan ) through his travails in exile. Jain group of Temple:- The jain community of khajuraho city was the  wealthiest community in india. The jain lagacy here includes one of the finest collection of Temple In Madhay pradesh together with more than dozen Hindu collection of Temple.At South East of Khajuraho village, the road end of the village and barely visible from the road the ruins of the Ghantai Temple.
